About the Tournament
Join us for the 5th Annual Brooklyn Disco Tech Support Hat Tournament! This is a fun, inclusive day of ultimate frisbee where teams are formed by picking names from a hat. It's a great opportunity to meet other youth players from NYC and nearby communities while enjoying the spirit of the game.
In a hat tournament, we randomly assign players to teams to ensure fair, balanced games. This format emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and making new friends across the ultimate community.
Tournament Details
Format
- • Schedule: 9–9:30am check-in, 9:30–9:45am team formation, 9:45am warm-ups, 10am first pull. Games run until 4pm.
- • Hat Tournament: Teams formed at the field by picking names from a hat
- • Game Size: 5v5, with a 3:2 ratio of boy-matching to girl-matching players per team
- • Mixed Division: Players can also play as a "defender of choice," matching up against any player — primarily intended for gender-expansive players
- • Format: Pool play followed by bracket play (schedule permitting)
Eligibility & Requirements
- • Age Group: Open to current middle school and high school players of all skill levels
- • USA Ultimate Membership: Required for all participants (affiliate or youth membership)
- • Medical Authorization: All players must bring a completed USA Ultimate Medical Authorization form on the day of and submit it at check-in
- • Registration: Register in advance at USA Ultimate's event page
- • Permit Status: Approved
Cost & Payment
- • Entry Fee: $15 per player, payable day-of at check-in (cash, Venmo, or PayPal)
- • Fee Waiver: If the fee is a barrier, speak to a check-in table team member — it can be waived, no questions asked
- • Proceeds: All proceeds benefit the Brooklyn Tech Support and Brooklyn Disco Tech high school teams
